A small room will not appear as small if the largest piece of furniture is almost the same shade as the walls. In your case, that would be the couch. Paint the walls a lighter color than the couch. Then, find some really awesome pillows in colors and or prints in green, sienna and brown. These pillows will make the couch and the room pop with color that is lacking on the walls.
You cannot go wrong if you decorate with these principals.
